Nowadays,
remastering
and re-releasing back catalogue CDs with Bonus discs is all the rage.
Even
releasing “Companion” discs is in vogue as well.
For the most part these Bonus
& Companion discs usually have a variety of studio out-takes,
live
versions, demos, rarities, alternate
versions, and even
a cover tune or two,
all rescued from the cutting
room floor and put out for the pleasure of the
“completist” in us all. One of
my favorite lines in reviews of these Bonus & Companion CDs is:

for (fill in the blank) fans, who no doubt will enjoy this
behind-the-scenes
journey. Casual fans may have a harder time finding the appeal, to
those we
